Telugu Stars To Produce Serials For TDD's Channel

THE TIRUMALA Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) is involving veteran film personalities from the Telugu film industry to produce as many as 39 devotional serials for its newly launched devotional TV channel Sri Venkateswara Bhakthi Channel (SVBC).

The channel launched by President Pratiba Patil on July 7, is for the time airing beaming rituals that are going on in the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara and other recorded programmes. To popularise the channel, the TTD has been using the services of veteran film directors like K Viswanath, Bapu-Ramana, K Raghavendra Rao and popular film star Meena, besides a classical music programme by noted play-back singer S P Balasubramanyam.

It would soon air as many as 20 devotional serials, which are at different stages of production. While the legendary director-writer pair, Bapu-Ramana, has taken up the task of producing the mega-serial, Sri Venkateswara Vaibhavam, K Viswanath, besides playing the lead role, would produce a serial on Sivannarayana Theerthulu.

Raghavendra Rao, has taken upon himself the task of reeling out a programme entitled Srishti, while noted director, Kodandarami Reddy, would be coming out with a serial called Puranagadhalu.

PC Reddy would produce a feature on Sri Bhagavad Ramanuja, while Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, writer-cum- actor has been given the task of producing a serial on Vasistha-Viswamithra. Actress Meena has agreed to play the lead role in the mega serial on Tarigonda Vengamamba.

On the classical and devotional music scenario, while Carnatic music wizard Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna is busy producing a programme Annamacharyula Sankeerthanavali, while noted play-back singer SP Balasubramanyam would be bringing out Sunada Vinodini.

TTD’s board chairman, B Karunakar Reddy and executive officer, KV Ramanachary were closeted with the noted Telugu film producer-directors, script writers, actors and actresses on Friday (July 18) to review the progress of as many as 39 devotional serials, which are said to be at different stages of production for the SVBC.
