State Government to Monopolize Online Movie Ticketing!

Online Movie Ticketing
We has earlier reported that the Andhra Pradesh State Government has taken a surprising decision of banning the online movie ticketing in the state. The decision has immediately been implemented and the movie portals such as Book My Show, No More Queue, along with PVR, Fame, Big Cinemas theaters have stopped their online movie bookings. The latest we hear is the State government has decided to monopolize the online ticketing business. The Govt officials have taken the decision to let only one single company to operate the online ticketing for all the cinemas.

The other interesting fact is 50% of the inventory must be offered for the company, by all the cinemas for selling the tickets online. N V Ramana Babu, who owns the company Galaxy Entertainers Pvt. Ltd was awarded a 5 year contract but the company is presently dormant, says the ministry of corporate affairs’ site. Neither the State government nor the Police seem to have the clear vision on the issue, which is further causing confusion to the online ticketing companies. As a result, the major sites have stopped the entire online booking. Added to this, the government is restricting the service charge for the each ticket as Rs.6, where the regular service charge was Rs.15. Shockingly, KyaZoonga is still continuing its services with a service charge of Rs.15. Whether the government will demand them to halt their services or not is still awaited.

I do not agree with the term monopoly..the government of AP has called for bids in the news papers and only those 8 companies have come forward like someone here asked “WHy only those 8 companies” and on account of having a very good infrastructure galaxy entertainers have been awarded the contract.

Benifits of centralized single state level hub
To Cinegoers

1. hassle free booking process.
2. no need to remember or maintain a directory of multiple agencies booking tickets .
3. no need to contact different agencies for their respective quotas in a particular theatre i.e if one theatre is allocated to more than one agency the cinegoers need to contact both the agencies for booking the tickets , if tickets are exhausted at the first agency, which leads to confusion and total failure of Easy cinema booking system visualized.
4. no need to refer directory of agencies permitted by the government to book tickets .
5. one agency may book 100% of tickets allocated to it and the other agency may not be able to book tickets leading to the confusion and failure of system visualized .
6. in the absence “Unified ” database the convenience projected could never be achieved .The advantages of single centralized would be conspicious if one observes the advantages and convenience created by the CORE BANKING SOLUTION.
7.the inconvenience faced by the people in the ‘E-seva’ system can be successfully adressed in the centralized hub system.
8. Technology should provide comfort , convenience to the users of the system, which is very much prevalent in the centralized data base system .
