Review

Story

Dasanna (Srikanth) is a rugged youngster who lives in a ‘basthi area’ and his life style includes only fights, daily intake of alcohol and non-veg. His livelihood depends on rowdism. In the process he happens to encounter an advocate Krishnaveni (Bhavana) who keeps on bailing him out whenever he gets into police case.

On the other hand a political rivalry runs between ruling party leaders Dattanna (Jayaprakash Reddy) and Kalarani (Jyothy). In the flow of events, Dasanna happens to become a tool between Datthanna and Kalarani. Telugu Movie Reviews

But Gandhism attracts Dasanna all of a sudden. He stops alcohol, non vegetarianism and also fights. He starts the process of accepting mistake. How that affected him? How that helped his area? That forms rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Srikanth: He did his best with utmost care. His expressions worked really well for every scene. He also tried to show some expertise in dances as well although choreography is pretty poor. The shades of his portrayal in Shankaradada Zindabad are seen on some scenes.

Bhavana: She is the biggest minus for the movie and there is nothing more speak about.

Jagan: Although a trivial role, he deserves a paragraph here. He appears in various get ups- NTR, Tanguturi Prakasam. Pingala Vekayya, Alluri Seeta Rama Raju, Potti Sree Ramulu and Gandhiji. The song ‘Kontha mandi inti peru…’ was shot on him.

Brahmanandam appears in guest comedy and that is just ok. Jayaprakash Reddy aptly grooved in the role of Datthanna. Jyothy is ok as Kalarani. Uttej and Paruchuri Venkateshwara Rao have played as side kicks to protagonist.

Charmee spilled glamour in an item song and Navneeth Kaur also made her hot presence on screen although appeared for a few seconds.

Editing has suffered some problems (Gandhi’s statue looks shabby for some time and clean and neat for other time in the same scene). Cinematography is good. Story is fine and screenplay could have been better. On a whole it’s a laudable attempt by director but could have carried the subject with more intensity.

Final Analysis:

The take-off of the movie is pretty hysterical with the title song ‘Talayetti jeevinchu Tammudaa..’ But the actual story wouldn’t start till the interval bang. The beginning of second half promises bigger things but that goes with various ups and downs. First 45 minutes of the movie goes in run of the mill style and that could have been confined to 20 minutes jumped into actual story.

The song ‘Indiramma inti peru kaadura Gandhi’ that raised controversy was changed to ‘Konthamandi inti peru kaadura Gandhi’. But Censor didn’t bother to cut down the word ‘f...k off’ used by artiste Jyothy for Kalarani character in first half.

Director seems to have ignored masses and that is evident through his selection of heroine and the get up given to her. Any other heroine would have aptly fitted in the requirement.

On a whole, the spirit of non violence, truth, accepting the mistake and perseverance are conveyed in this attempt through some scenes. But more homework should have done to make it a better product since the title is ‘Mahatma’!

Tamil And Telugu Film Industry Shocked With BHUVANESWARI Confession?

Tamil and Telugu film industries were annoyed to see an half page article published by DinaMalar newspaper revealing the names of few prominent actresses and linking them with the ‘Flesh Trade‘ scandal. Few days back, character actress Bhuvaneswari was arrested on the charges of running a brothal house in Chennai and running a sex racket. As per the news, DinaMalar was able to contact her and has published an article saying that it’s the confession report given by Bhuvaneswari herself.



Buvaneswari confessed that many other actresses in the industry are involved in this sex-racket. The names that she revealed include: Namitha, Nalini, Seetha, Manjula Vijaykumar, Shakeela, SriPriya & Anju. She said that the above mentioned celebrities have a good rapport with the film industry and Police department alike and as she doesn’t have that, she was being targetted by Police everytime. DinaMalar has published the article without any censoring the name list. Now, this has created a stir in the film fraternities all over and Nadigar Sangham has arranged a pressmeet last night condemning these reports. Actress Sanjana's Birthday on Oct 10

South Indian actress Sanjana a.k.a. Archana Galrani is all set to celebrate her birthday with her family on October 10. The actress has planned to have a big birthday party in Mumbai. She has already invited friends and relatives. “I'm honestly looking forward to a crazy funfull weekend, says Sanjana.

Actress Sanjana is presently involved in three Kannada films. She has already completed the shooting of her first heroine oriented horror flick Sloka, which is directed by Mahindra. Shri directed film Ee Sanje, which features her alongside Sudeep's nephew Aarya, has also completed shooting. Sanjana says, “I'm done with the shooting of Ee Sanje. The South Indian babe has recently signed two new Kannada films, which will start filming in November. Besides this, She has a couple of offers in Telugu too, but she is carefully making her choice. Meanwhile, Sanjana has also signed to star in a Malayalam film, which is apparently one of the biggest ever films in the history of Malayalam film industry. Jr NTR Has Donated Twice '20 lakhs'

Jr NTR has donated Rs 20 lakh for CM Relief Fund and that is known for all. Freshly there is controversy regarding his meeting with KVP Rama Chandra Rao. It is sure that the sparks ignited among TDP circles as Jr NTR is giving signals that he is getting into the home of Congress. Although Yerran Naidu asked not to look at this using magnifying lens, there are gossips that Jr NTR is no more interested to continue in the shadow of TDP.

'Putrudu' Release For This Diwali

Post-production works are nearing completion for ‘Putrudu’ produced by Boddam Indrasena under the banner of Friends Film Academy introducing Sravan Bapatla as director, with the producer himself playing the hero and Tanisha pairing opposite him as heroine.

Producer says, “We first thought of producing the film in Telugu, but Sharma of Mumbai watched the trailers and suggested to release it in Hindi as well. Hence we have decided to bring out the film simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil languages. There would be about 45 minutes of graphic works in our movie. All the songs were choreographed with superior quality. I would appear in a role which had two shades like Medico and Aghora.” Telugu Movie News

Director Sravan says, “The film is being made with ‘Parusavedi’ (a trick which makes iron as gold) concept as its backdrop. At the same time, it has several elements like suspense and comedy too.”

Bindu is playing the second female lead in this movie, while MS Narayana, Surya, Kondavalasa Lakshmana Rao, Duvvasi Mohan, Rajender, Uttej, Nalla Venu, Pruthviraj, Jeeva, Jayavani, Kavita and others are in the cast. Music is by Satya Y, camera is by V Prabhapkar, editing is by D Raja, while story, screenplay, dialogues and direction are by Sravan Bapatla. Bukka Venugopal is the co-producer.

Allu National Award For 'Padmanabham'

The national award instituted in the name of Allu Ramalingaiah was given away to the comedian of yesteryears Padmanabham at a function held at Ravi Narayana Reddy auditorium recently. Allu Aravind felicitated Padmanabham with golden anklet (swarna kankanam), while Gummadi covered him with a shawl.
