Story

Sreya (Swathy) lives with her mother (Delhi Rajeshwari) and works in an Audit Office. But she loves singing and hence gets into earning by joining as a stage singer in a Star Hotel. She also holds a dream of singing in the composition of AR Rehman.

Sastry (Tanikella Bharani) makes ways to find a concert for his friend who is a classical singer Rao (Vikram Gokhale). They happen to come to that Star Hotel in search of a chance at the same place and listen to Sreya’s performance. Rao shouts on her quoting the standards of music. Sreya takes that as a challenge and goes to the same Rao to learn music.

Srinu (Kamal Kamarj) a London returned guy happens to be the pair for Sreya.

What happens later and how Sreya fulfils her dreams form rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Colors Swathy: She is the only pulling factor for this film. She did her best in justifying the role. Fun, humor and energy were given by her in first half. But the second half demanded pathos part in her and hence audiences get to see a new Swathy with tears.

Kamal Kamaraju: It is good that he improved muscles and looking macho. At the same time he needs to improve a lot in the matters of action and dialogue delivery. His guitar scene is very eccentric and such hysterical scenes should be done only when they are necessary.

Vikram Gokhale: He is very new to Telugu screen. Audiences can connect to him only when he can deliver all sorts of histrionics required for silver screen. But he didn’t. He underplayed a lot in that passive patient role leaving no sense for his presence in the movie. He is known as very good stage artiste in Maharashtra but he proved not the only choice for the role. And the dubbing voice of renowned SP Balasubrahmanyam given to him is another flaw.

Others:
Tanikella Bharani did his best. He recalls the role of Sarath Babu in Sagarasangamam for some time and that of Allu Ramalingiah in Sankarabharanam for other time.

Delhi Rajeshwari is ok in her role but appeared weaker than before.

Pragathi (hero’s mother) missed timing in delivering dialogues as well as expressions. This can be considered as one of her poor performances in recent time.

Technical Departments:
There is nothing great or less to mention about any technical department and everything went in run of the mill state. Dialogues are good and sensible to large extent but the problem arrived with screenplay. The wellness of dialogues got smoked by lengthy indoctrinating scenes where not required, especially in second half.

Final Analysis:

The religion of the director who happens to be the story writer of the movie seems to be ‘Vishwanathism’ as far as this film is concerned. To elaborate, the elements in the films Sagarasangamam, Sankarabharanam, Sruthi Layalu and Swarna Kamalam would role on minds’ screen while watching this film. And there is nothing wrong and such attempt deserves praises. But it’s not just the story that becomes a movie. Proper screenplay, scene conviction and free flow are required to hook the audiences. And moreover, such films need a right proportion of humor to balance the equation.

The attempt of director to bring pathos in climax is laudable but the blend missed the goal. The choice of artistes is not so impressive. And the director didn’t do any attempt to balance the equation of emotions those are being delivered in the movie.

First half goes little better with the humor and trademark style of Colors Swathy. But the second half mars the enthusiasm levels of audiences with heaviness in scenes and narration. Lack of timing while delivering dialogues and giving expressions hindered the free flow in narration.

Apart from this, the directors should know that there is huge talent within known sources and need not run for artistes like Vikram Gokhale.

On a whole it’s an old concoction attempted to serve with newness but couldn’t reach the expectation.

Attempt of director can be appreciated but pity on would-be box office result.

Bottom-Line: Should be watched with ‘big heart’ to say ‘it’s good’

Story

Vengamamba (Meena) is the darling daughter of Krishnaiah and Mangamamba (Sarath Babu and Sudha).

She grows up to be an ardent follower of lord Venkateshwara and despite the crisis in her personal life and the hurdles, she is determined and has her goal focused. Soon, she reaches Tirumala and continues her writing works. There are issues she faces from members like Kainkaryam (Anant) and Dikshitulu (Ashok).

Does she manage to overcome those hurdles? Is she successful in her writings? All this forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Meena:
Meena has come up with a very good performance and she has shown grace and elegance in her act. She could do her best even in old get up but that ended up in brisk pace.

Others:
Sarath Babu was upto standard and even Subbaraya Sarma was good enough. Sudha did her melodrama as usual, Ananth and Ashok Rao were efficient as the villains, the real lookers were Saikiran and Sana as the gods and they were the perfect choice for the roles. L B Sriram was brief, Ranganath was barely there and others did their bit as required.

Technical Departments:

The director has come up with a neat presentation of the storyline and his narrative was appealing. The presentation was also good with some really melodious songs along with exceptional graphics. Editing was nice and the screenplay was smooth. The script was written without much complication and the pace of the film was good.

Music many a time appears to be a continuation to Annamayya. Even the lyrics written for the song of Vengamamba jananam is something similar to that of Annamayya Jananam song.

Highlights:
Get up of Sai Kiran as Lord Venkateshwara
Devotional depth in a few scenes

Final Analysis:

Though this did not have the glamour and glitz of ‘Annamayya’, the movie has been shaped well and it has come up with a standard result. The credit for this goes to the performances and also the songs. Since it is a purely devotional flick, the genre of audience would be quite specified such as the families and those with spiritual inclination.

Though the film faltered on elements such as lack of comedy and few unwanted songs, overall it has been able to engage the audience in a good way.

The current day audience can relate to it in terms of the dialogues and the makers have not attempted to make it melodramatic or sentimental. This is a good effort considering the genre and the success of the film would rely on some aggressive marketing and decent first week reports. The technical values of the movie were quite good and the graphics also were perfect. This is a good one for those who seek some clean movies.

This film is a must watch for all Telugus because, it’s the newly unleashed story of a ‘vaaggeyakaarini’ of British era in Tirumala.

Bottom Line: This historical devotional film again goes unknown in history if proper publicity is not added.

I’m not carnivorous - Asin

Asin is unamused at media reports that have said that he is an avid meat eater. “Hello,” says the Southern sensation, who is now a Bollywood hottie. “I do eat meat occasionally but on most days i have a simple vegetarian meal. When I’m home in Kerala, I cherish my fish curry and rice. However, to say I can’t do without meat even for a day is an exaggerated fact. I’m not carnivorous.” Asin also clarifies that he wasn’t approached by PETA to be their ambassador, so reports that said that they changed their mind about her because they discovered her meat eating habits is also false. “Where do such reports come from?” asks Asin. Well, rumours and rejoinders are a part of the celebrity trail, aren’t they?

Priyamani's 'Love' Full Stop!

This is the grapevine that is making rounds in the industry now. Priyamani who has been in close intimacy with Malayalam hero Prithviraj is now maintaining distance from him.

Her career graph has been encouraging ever since ‘Pellaina Koththalo’ & her latest bikini act in Drona took her graph to top.

As per a birdie it seems that Priyamani lost interest on Prithviraj due to monotony. he is looking for someone new, is the grapevine right now. he is now busy with the shooting of Pravarakhyudu with Jagapathi Babu.

he also won national award for Tamil movie Paruththi Veeran & thus proved herself from all angles.

Ramcharan Teja Magadheera new 1.30 min TRAILER

Priyamani debuting bollywood in Main Ratnam film

The National Award-winning actress claims to be essaying a significant role in the Hindi version of Mani Rathnam's Ravann. How was it rubbing shoulders with Abhi-Ash?

“I had to shoot some portions only with Abhishek. It was nice working with such a jovial person. He is quite friendly and talks to even spot-boys on the sets.”

Will this plum project be her Bollywood launchpad? “I don't know really. For me, since this was an offer from Mani Rathnam I just took it up. Any actor can give his/her right hand to work with Mani.” Her next Tollywood film Pravararkudu, says Priyamani “is specially designed for the Gen Next audience. The film tries to explore whether love is just a physical attraction or something beyond it,” she informs.

She’s also one of the few Tamil actresses who is a household name in Tollywood, despite a few duds. Recently, she triggered a debate with her dare-bare act in Drona. “I received a mixed response for my bikini act. But I haven't taken a firm stand on whether I want to do more such scenes at a later date or not,” she affirms.

Despite a bunch of offers, she hasn't any new Telugu film. Is it because she's known to have revised her fees? “I don't think so. My pay packet is reasonable. But I prefer doing films where I have a meaty role. The set-up of the film and the filmmaker also matter to me. For me those are vital issues that help me decide on a film. You never sign a film only for money” she reasons.

Then what’s making her dabble in other language films? The reason, says the sultry beauty queen is simple. “For an actress, the choices are more if one is open to the idea of doing films in different languages. I could even do an Oriya film if the role excites me,” says the multi-lingual actress.

Priyamani seems to be in the mood to experiment. After playing a role with negative shades (Mithrudu) she sounds equally excited about her upcoming Tamil film Ninaithale Innikkum.

On the personal front, her family provides her rock solid support in all her endeavours. “I often chill out with my brother and parents in Bangalore,” she informs. A gadget freak, she gets tips from her brother on the latest mobiles and laptops. “I am truly looking forward to my South Africa trip where I'm shooting with Jagapathi Babu,” she quips. She thinks her seven-year-old film career has been fruitful even as she confesses that being a workaholic means she's so busy with work that she has no time for love.

Chiranjeevi Going To Close PRP Shortly?

It was with great hype and hoopla that megastar Chiranjeevi bid adieu to films and entered the field of politics. He started the Praja Rajyam Party with the hope of becoming the Chief Minister but the recent elections have shown him a bitter taste of reality.

Currently, Chiru is content with his position as an MLA and he has 18 MLAs supporting him. However, even that seems to have come under threat now. Out of the 18 MLAs, it is observed that 8 are jumping out and remaining are also looking at jumping back to their original parties.

Inside sources reveal that Chiru and his close aide Allu Aravind are said to be having many rounds of talks and are considering the option of shutting down the party. Though Chiru has been putting up a brave front in the presence of media, this is said to be the real situation and the truth will be known in the coming days.

Sneha's Sexy Fat Tummy Area

Sneha has reduced a lot after rigorous work outs after ‘Sri Ramadasu’ with Nagarjuna. But again she gained some weight and this picture is an evidence for that.

This still is from the film ‘Neelo Naalo’ that is getting dubbed from Tamil where Shaam of ‘Kick’ fame is the lead role in it. Her tummy area is little stout but she hasn’t gone far away from oozing sex appeal. Hence Sneha is called the ‘sexy black beauty with hot South Indian curves’.

Cast: Venu Thottempudi, Kamalini Mukherjee, Jeeva, Krishna Bhagawan, Sana, Kondavalasa etc
Release Date: 10th Jul 2009

Review

Story

The name Vamsi has energy in Tollywood. And that proved again with the thumping openings for this film almost everywhere across the state. And the element ‘Godavari’ is something close to the hearts of Telugus and that is another add-on factor for this film that came with interesting title ‘Gopi Gopika Godavari’. Let us see how it worked out.

Gopika (Kamalini Mukherjee) is a doctor who serves patients in villages on the banks of River Godavari on a mobile hospital. Shyam Prasad, another young doctor gets inspiration from her to run the mobile hospital in his place. He also proposes her to marry but she postpones it citing some professional goals. Meanwhile Uma, a friend of Gopika studying in Hyderabad, commits suicide and that incident makes Gopi (Venu), a stage singer, get acquainted to her. They never meet but only keep in touch on phone. As and when they try to meet each other some problem arises and they remain unseen to each other. Finally they meet but in an unexpected situation still unknown to each other!!How that situation would arise? What happens from then? That has to be watched on screen.

Artists Performance:

Venu: His role is a bit passive and hence he has got no big scope to show his histrionics. His confidence has fallen down to some extent and while delivering a few dialogues that proved evident.

Kamalini: She looked very mundane in some scenes. Is she the one who acted in Anand and Godavari? Exclaimed a few in the theatre, watching her pale looks and glow less skin. She also proved dull in performance with mismatch in lip sync and dialogue. She looked unconvincing and tasteless while giving some expressions. She has to work out on all the aspects those are required for a heroine. Otherwise she will be pushed to recycle bin by the industry.

Others: Krishna Bhagawan-Sana comedy appeals for a set of audiences. Kondavalasa is routine and others have done their duty as required.

Technical Departments:

Cinematography is ok to some extent and caliber is shown during ‘night effect’ mode. Dialogues are ok in humor part but proved heavier and life less in melodrama and serious scenes. Art department also deserves a mention as it has worked enough to meet the requirements of director at a very small budget. Other faculties have got no noticeable aspect to underline. Story is outdated, screenplay is passive and direction is not in tune with present day audiences.

Music enthralls the audiences with pleasant Vamsi-Chakri trademark. Even the item song has got the lyrical stuff. The songs ‘Nuvvakkadundi…’ has received whistles in theatres when it started. That shows the popularity bagged by this song among masses. Similarly ‘Go Go Rai Rai’ also got enough applause. Chakri has proved again with his melodious and long lasting tunes.

Final Analysis:

The best part in the movie that pulled crowds to packed theatres is the music and lyrical value in it. And the equally best part is the name Vamsi as Director. But the expectations haven’t reached the mark. Vamsi relied more on maintaining his trademark etiquettes in direction than on story line. The obsolete line couldn’t gel well with any of the audiences. Every common viewer can easily guess what is going to be shown in second half at interval bang. That has made the graph of enthusiasm touch ‘zero’ at the end.

The only saving grace in the movie is Krishna Bhagawan’s comedy and even that would appeal only for dark humor lovers. First half of the movie takes off on an interesting note but slowly the packet becomes loose and there would be nothing to conceal by the time of intermission.

This is not a film to be made for the audiences those have got habituated to straight screenplay after watching hundreds of movies.

It proves to be a below average outcome even in liberal viewing considering the required standards to entertain or hook the contemporary audiences.

Bottom Line: An outdated story with beaten screenplay that sparsely appeals for audiences
