Movie Review

Story

DD (Sumanth) and Chinna are orphans and childhood friends. Their aim in life is to set up a ‘Pulihora centre’. DD joins a local goon’s (Jayaprakash Reddy) gang so that he could easily get money for the pulihora center. On his first job, he is assigned to kidnap a girl Pragathi, a minister’s daughter with noble intentions. In fact, Pragathi herself hatches a kidnap plan with her friend to demand 4 Crores from her father to rescue farmer who are losing their land. She thinks that DD has kidnapped her on her friend’s advice. Later she knows the truth but by that time she starts liking him. Then DD’s boss comes to him and orders him to kill her. But he flees with her. The rest of the story is finding the person who hatched the plan to murder Pragathi.

Artists Performance:

Sumanth has done such orphan-rowdy characters in the past and he does role effortlessly. His sidekick is irritating to the most, it is very purely etched role. Newcomer Kriti is okay. Jayaprakash Reddy’s role is in the lines of Paresh Rawal’s in Kshana Kshanam. Comedy track by Satyam Rajesh and Naresh, Bablu and others is mediocre. Chandramohan portrays the ‘surprising role’ with ease. Movie Review

Technically, it is cinematographer Andrew’s camera and music director Ramana Gogula’s work is appreciable. New director Raj Pippala has tried to present the movie in novel way but he is letdown by his own team of writers. Writing is bad, to say the least.

Boni tries to tread path with action-love backdrop but fails miserably. Boni is not a right debut for the producer and director. The movie is laced with hotchpotch of screenplay, lengthy and unnecessary scenes and predictable humor.

Analysis:

Music director Ramana Gogula has turned producer with Boni and apart from producing it, he also handles the departments of music, picturisation of songs and creative design (whatever that means!). NRI director Raj Pippala has made debut with this film. The director’s basic premise - a guy kidnapping a girl who herself wants to be kidnapped for noble reasons and during the episode, they start falling in love with each other - sounds good on paper. Sadly, the execution, especially the screenplay, is too hotchpotch that the movie finally ends up a cockeyed one. Writing is too bad (both the screenplay and dialogs). Till interval, hardly anything happens. Except cinematography and couple of good songs, this badly executed, badly written movie leaves the audiences in boredom. And it is too lengthy for this sort of a kidnap drama.

Is there any Pulihora center (exclusively Pulihora selling hotel) exists in Andhra Pradesh? Even if it does, how much it costs to set it up? Rs 7Lakhs? Hero joining a mafia leader to get Rs 7 Lakhs to set up a pulihora center is hard to believe.

Final Analysis:

Boni tries to tread path with action-love backdrop but fails miserably. Boni is not a right debut for the producer and director. The movie is laced with hotchpotch of screenplay, lengthy and unnecessary scenes and predictable humor.

Movie Review

Story

Sivaram (Rajasekhar) is a drunkard who hates his family and there is a flashback reason for that. His life takes a turn when he gets an unexpected call from Parvati (Bhumika).

Her life is in danger as there is someone in her family who wants to kill her for her property. Sivaram manages to get hold of Parvathi and brings her home.

They wait for the arrival of her father (Vijaykumar) from US and in the meantime, few incidents happen and some of them get killed. Finally, Sivaram decides to get rid of the bottle and solve the mystery and at the same time, protect Parvathi from the killer. How does he do that forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Rajasekhar has come up with a regular performance and his fitness levels are good. Since this is not a regular angry role, it was a different facet of his acting. Bhumika is glowing as usual and looked really seductive in sarees and songs. Telugu Movie Reviews


Brahmanandam failed to impress, Ali was okay, Venu Madhav was stale, Ahuti Prasad was ineffective, Devaraj did not have anything, Vijaykumar did justice to his presence, Jeeva was average, Keerath looked really beautiful though very brief, she has potential for glamour, Chalapathi Rao, Banerjee, Annapurna and others were standard.

The dialogues were just regular and the background score was totally disconnected and disgusting, one song was okay, cinematography was neat and showed its presence during songs, costumes and art department did a good job, editing could have been better.

Final Analysis:

The film takes the lead from the English movie ‘Celluloid’ that released more than a decade ago. Later on, it gets into the regular Indian style and it must be said that at no point was it able to appeal to the audience.

While the first half just passed off, the second half was wasted in unwanted comedy and the climax was over descriptive to resolve the mystery. It was too lengthy and the film would have done better if the comedy aspect was focused and the length be altered since it is meant to be a thriller of sorts. There is not much momentum which can engage the audience and it cannot be attributed to the mass or class as such.

Though there is an element of suspense involved and few twists to it, these were not good enough to keep the curiosity alive. The presentation was okay but the narrative of the plot was weak. The film might just pass off if there is some word of mouth attached to it in a positive manner otherwise it will be joining the list of regular duds.

I played as police officer in one of my recent films and Kiran Bedi would be the name which is inspiring for woman police officers. So we chose that name as our title, but it has nothing to do with her. I am also interested in doing Telugu films if I get interesting characters even now. Any how I am very happy for returning to the Telugu film industry even after a 10-year gap.’ Producer and Malasri’s husband Ramu says, “The film which was released in Kannada on March 7 is still running with good collections. Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is set to shoot an item number for a Telugu film titled Love 4 Ever. Telugu Movie News

"Deepika has agreed to shoot an item number for the forthcoming venture Love 4 Ever from June 24 onwards—her first in Telugu," a publicist said.

Starring Ranadeep and Mridula, Love 4 Ever is being made in Hindi and Telugu and Jayant C Paranji is wielding the megaphone for it. Laughing Waters Entertainment is producing the film.

"The successful track record of Paranji for having enlisted the services of another Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai came in good stead in this film," added the source.

Deepika started her career with Kannada film Aishwarya and debuted in Hindi films with 2007 hit Om Shanti Om.

'Bendu Apparao' Shooting Completed 50%

Shooting of ‘Bendu Apparao’ directed by EVV Satyanarayana and produced by Dr D Ramanaidu on the banner of Suresh Productions with ‘Allari’ Naresh as hero and Kamna Jethmalani as heroine and Meghana as another heroine, is progressing at a brisk pace. Speaking on the occasion, the director says, ‘We choreographed three songs in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Austria, with which we completed 50 per cent of shooting. After a long time, I am directing a complete comedy entertainer. This time, we are experimenting dialogue comedy through this film. Hat-Trick Heroine Kamalinee Mukherjee

Meet this Kolkata belle Kamalinee Mukherjee, who is basking in the success of her first Kannada film Savaari, which has completed 50 days of screening and is heading towards 100. Kamalinee always selects roles that are dear to a family audience. Her performance in the Telugu film Anand earned her the Nandi Award from the Andhra Pradesh Government. Surprisingly, this was also her maiden film in Telugu.

An interesting thing is that Kamalinee had the privilege of playing the leading lady's role in three versions of the same film. She was the heroine of the Telugu film Gamyam, which was re-made in Tamil as Kadhalna Summa Illa. This film was again re-made in Kannada as Savaari. And Kamalinee played the heroine in all the three versions. Telugu Movie News

“I’m very happy to have acted in all the three versions. I am also very glad that the Kannada version Savaari is heading towards 100 days,” said Kamalinee. She added,”I am very grateful to the Kannada cine buffs for encouraging the film.,’’ So, has she accepted any other offers in Kannada. She goes:“No. I am not in a hurry. As of now, I’m focusing on a Telugu film directed by a debutant director. I think there will be no hassles to act in Kannada films if I get suitable roles,’’ said Kamalinee.
Her other Telugu films are Style, Meenakshi, Godavari, Classmates, Pellaindi Kaani, Happy Days, Gamyam, Jalsa, Brahmahanandam Drama Company and Gopi Gopika Godavai.
Although being a talented actress, Kamalinee has been seen acting in only one or two films a year. “I was suffering from psychological problems and was not well for quite some time. Now, I am okay and I hope to act more and more films in future,’’ said Kamalinee.

Tollywood Changed My Life - Shraddha Das

She is all of six films old, but Shraddha Das who made her debut in Sidhu from Srikakulam is already being touted as the next big thing in Tollywood. With several big banner films in her kitty and Arya 2 lined up for release, this Bengali babe who hails from Mumbai now plans to take it easy. Telugu Movie News

“I’ve been shooting for films back-to-back for the last 10 months. I have made a mark now, so I think I can slow down a bit and be a little more selective when it comes to signing films,” she says.

After her stint in Gladrags, Shraddha was flooded with ad film offers and corporate shows. But once she landed her first Tollywood role in Ramesh Raja’s Target, there was no looking back, she says. “Target was supposed to be my debut film. The release was delayed however, and Sidhu... hit the screens first.” Surely, Shraddha must thank her stars for the turn of fate as Sidhu proved to be quite a hit!
While she loves the stardom she enjoys in the city, Shraddha confesses, “Tollywood changed my life totally. I don’t belong to a star family nor am I former Miss India, yet I’ve been accepted by the audience and that is a great thing.” Telugu Movie Gossips

Did the fact that she didn’t speak Telugu ever pose a threat to her career. “Never. On the contrary, everyone was extra helpful. Initially, I did have problems with the language, but then my assistants and make-up artistes helped me with the basics. Gradually, it got easier and now although I cannot converse fluently in Telugu, I can understand it pretty well. In fact, the audience have accepted me like one of their own and my role in Mantra 2 was widely appreciated,” she gushes.
Shraddha attributes her success to her supportive parents. “They have been by me all along. The only condition my father ever placed was that I complete my education before stepping into films,” says this journalism graduate.

While the Telugu audience welcomed her with open arms, the girl is yet to make Hyderabad her home. Currently shuttling between her hometown Mumbai, and “second home” Hyderabad, she says, “I don’t mind the the travelling one bit. I’m passionate about films and it has all been worth it,” says Shraddha.

Rubbishing rumours that claim she is looking for greener pastures in other film industries, especially in Mumbai, Shraddha quips, “I’m very comfortable here. In case a good offers comes along, I’ll consider doing a project or two, but I’m not actively auditioning for Bollywood films. I’ll take it as it comes.”

Prabhu Deva, Nayanthara Married?

Breaking news of a Telugu channel has it that Nayanthara’s married Prabhu Deva secretly in Hyderabad! Telugu Movie Gossips

While the Kollywood grapevine holds that Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara are the hottest couple in town and does not deny rumours of them being in love ever since they worked together in Vijay’s Villu, sources close to the actress have denied the marriage. “She was not even in Hyderabad when rumours of her marriage broke,” they said.

The choreographer, actor-turned-director Prabhu Deva is a married man with three children, and went through a harrowing time a few months back when he lost his eldest son. The buzz was that it was Nayan, who gave him strength to come out of his personal grief, which was compounded by the fact that his marriage with Ramlath, his one-time dance assistant, was on the rocks.

Kollywood sources also attribute Nayan’s reluctance to party to her closeness to Prabhu. She withdrew into a shell and cut off all her friends in the industry. Her frequent trips to temples are also attributed to the man in her life, who is an ardent Hindu devotee. When asked about Nayanthara by the local press, Prabhu Deva said that “it is personal”.

Prabhu Deva also went out of his way to improve her on-screen dance movements, as he personally coached her. Many choreographers feel that she has improved leaps and bounds in the Vaada Mapillai... song in Villu. Recently, Prabhu Deva created a stir when he went to Kumarakom at his expense and without taking any fee choreographed two songs that were picturised on Nayanthara for the Malayalam film Bodyguard!

The rumours about their affair, was confirmed when the actress tattooed ‘Prabhu’ (P in English and the rest in Tamil), a little above her wrist at a newly-opened tattoo lounge in Hyderabad. Remember Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Kareena’ tattoo on his forearm, which he is said to have got to prove he is seriousness about her. Prabhu Deva is making a comeback to acting and is playing the lead in Thangar Bachan’s offbeat Kalavadiya Pozhudugal, and is directing, the Hindi remake of his Pokkiri — Wanted Dead and Alive — with Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia for producer Boney Kapoor.

Allam Vellulli Completes Talkie Shoot

Shooting of the talkie part of ‘Allam Vellulli’ directed by Kiran Palla and produced on the banner of PVR Creations with Arun and Srikar as heroes and Rani and Sindhu as heroine. Director says, ‘We finished talkie shooting. A song would be canned in and around Hyderabad during the second week of June. Presently, the film is busy in graphic works. Rerecording is almost nearing completion. The film is being made with hotel management in its backdrop. Hence we titled the film ‘Allam Vellulli’. The film is basically a triangular love story and a 20-minute graphic would be a special attraction in the film. There are seven songs and music director Snigdha gave melodious tunes to all of them.’ Ahuti Prasad, Dharmavarapu Subrhamanyam, Krishna Bhagawan, Melkote, Samir, Sana, Surekhavani, Master Bharat and others are in the cast.
